Anfield's Main Stand roof leaks leaving fans soaked during Liverpool v Arsenal blockbuster

Anfield was rocking so much during Liverpool’s 3-3 rollercoaster draw against Arsenal - that the roof came down.

Fans at the back of the Main Stand were soaked when a section of the roof came loose in the second half, allowing the driving rain to pour through.

One supporter posted a picture of the leak on Twitter, showing the crowd in good voice, but huddling away from a mini-deluge at top of the stand.

He wrote: “Great atmosphere tonight, even the Main Stand was singing!

“Shambles at the back but great drive 2nd half to get back into it. JH (Jordan Henderson) excellent.”

The Liverpool supporter who captured the footage said: "It was a few rows behind us and the downpour started about five minutes from the end of the game.

"I think the people directly underneath, if they hadn't got off, would have got soaked.

"It went right the way down the roof. As I was coming out of the game I was walking down the steps by the press box all the laptops were getting drenched.

"There was a fella behind me who thought the roof was going to come in because of the weight of the water.

"We are paying the dearest prices, I know it is like a building site at the minute, but we shouldn't have to be put up with that.

"I just hope it doesn't rain on Sunday.

"I don't know what they will do, it wasn't just coming in from one place, it was coming in everywhere."

Similar roof leaking was reported in the press box area, where journalists covering the action-packed clash between the Reds and the Gunners were left wet through.

Electronic equipment was left drenched as wet and wintry weather arrived at L4 for the game which ended with substitute Joe Allen grabbing Liverpool a last-gasp equaliser.
